Jefferson Band Webpage Got an Update
Things are looking different around here; the webpage has gone through an update! But, because of the change, some of the posts' formatting is a little off. Just be patient! Anyway, I am liking the look, and hope you do, too! Also, I've added a "Follower" box (you'll see it on the right hand as you scroll down). Become a follower, and you'll get updates when new posts are added!

2nd Place Finish
Congratulations to the Jefferson High School Concert Band who competed at the OSAA 3A State Band Championships today and came home with a 2nd place finish, and was only 10 points away from 1st!
There are 39 3A High Schools in the state of Oregon and only 6 of those 39 even got the opportunity to compete at state!
Awesome work Concert Band! You earned this finish and should feel very proud of your accomplishments!

2nd Annual Tour Send Off Concert
On Wednesday, April 21st at 7:30 pm, Jefferson High School Bands' 2nd Annual Send-Off Concert will take place in Sweet Home High School’s Auditorium. This concert will feature State-Qualifying Sweet Home High School Symphonic Choir and Defending 3A State Champions Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Bands.
Sweet Home Symphonic Choir will sing several pieces, including “The Moon Is Distant From the Sea” by David N. Childs, “Set Me As A Seal” by Rene Clausen, and “Soon Ah Will Be Done” by William Dawson, which received a standing ovation at both their Winter and Fall Concerts.
Some of the Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Bands selections include “Green Hills Fantasy” by Thomas Doss and “Song Without Words” by Gustav Holst and jazz selection “Hey Pachuco” arranged by Shane Porter.
This concert marks the beginning of Sweet Home Symphonic Choir and Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Band’s trip to Portland, Oregon and Grand Mound, Washington. The trip will take the students around Portland and Grand Mound, visiting attractions such as the Oregon Zoo and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Matthew Clark, director of Sweet Home choirs says, “We’re excited about getting these two talented groups together and getting ready for state. We have a clinic planned with Warner Pacific University and I think it will really benefit us while preparing for state and other spring time performances.” Both Sweet Home Symphonic Choir and Jefferson High School Concert Band have qualified for state this year.

Councils Plan for Spring Trip
Today, the JHS Band Council and SHHS Choir Council met at the Clark house to plan the 2010 Spring Trip. We split into small groups and researched two possible locations: Portland and Bend. Students searched for hotels, activities, performance venues, and more. After lunch, each group presented their findings and collectively, we voted to make Portland, OR and Grand Mound, WA this year's Spring Trip destinations. After more small group work, we came together to create a tentative itinerary. With the
approval of school administrators, we'll be taking another great trip this April!

Northwest Band Camps
Today, Mrs. Clark and her family went and made a visit to the Northwest Band Camps. There, they spent some time with the first week Jefferson campers--all of whom were exhausted after a week of fun filled days, and ready to make the trek back home. Here is a picture of Mrs. Clark with 7 of the Jefferson girls!
